In light of my post yesterday about the eminent freezing temperatures and the dangers posed by Utah's extreme weather, I thought I would share a couple photos from my day yesterday. These photos were taken in two separate homes where the cause of the damage was the same. Frozen/burst pipes. Interestingly, the pipes that burst had very similar characteristics and situations. Both pipes were located in the ceiling running along the exterior wall of the home (within about 2 feet). Both didn't have enough, if any, insulation protecting them from the weather. Both caused damages to the home estimated in the thousands. Both homeowners acted fast by shutting their main water valve off within just minutes. Both homeowners were shocked by how much water damage had been incurred in those short minutes. Both promptly called Five Point Restoration. Both were glad they did.
